GPS Settings For Use With SST Stratus
 
Bluetooth GPS Receivers CompactFlash GPS Receivers
 

Setting Up the Bluetooth GPS
1.
Turn on the Bluetooth GPS by flipping the switch on the top of the antenna.

2. Turn on your Bluetooth-enabled Pocket PC device.

3. Look for a blue, blinking light on both the GPS receiver and on the handheld computer. This means that the two devices have made a connection.

Click on the “Bluetooth Manager” icon.

5. Tap “New” on the bottom left of the screen and select “Connect”.

6. “Explore a Bluetooth device” will automatically be selected. Tap “Next”.

7. Tap inside the outlined box beneath “Device:”

8. Tap on the “BTGPS” icon with the "?" symbol.

9. Select "GPS1" in the scroll box and select "Next".

10. Tap on “Finish”.

Double-tap the serial port icon (or tap and hold the icon then select “Connect”). You have now properly connected the Bluetooth GPS. You can close "Bluetooth Manager".

12. In SST Stratus, go to the "Map" tab, select GPS>GPS Settings, choose the appropriate COM port number (listed below) and tap "OK".
COM 8 - HP iPAQ 5400, 5500, 2200, 2100, 3900
COM 5 - HP iPAQ 1900 series
COM 7 - Dell Axim x50v series

13. At the Map View, tap the GPS icon (satellite icon). In the "Bluetooth Browser" screen, tap the “BTGPS” icon with the "?" symbol. Then "GPS1" and click "OK" on the top right of the screen. Now SST Stratus will receive a GPS signal. Note: This final step must be repeated every time you use the Bluetooth GPS in SST Stratus.

 

Setting Up the CompactFlash GPS
1.
Place the GPS receiver in your handheld computer's CompactFlash port or CompactFlash expansion pack port.

2. Open SST Stratus, go to the map view and tap "GPS" at the bottom of the screen.

3. Select "GPS Settings", then click the "COM" tab. Select the appropriate COM number from the list below, and tap "Okay".

COM port settings:  
HP/Compaq iPAQ 3600 & 3700 COM 4
HP/Compaq iPAQ 3800 COM 5
HP/Compaq iPAQ 3900 COM 6
HP iPAQ 5400 & 5500 COM 4
HP iPAQ 2400 COM 4
HP iPAQ 2200  COM 1 or 7
HP iPAQ 2100 COM 4
Dell Axim X5 COM 5
Dell Axim x50v COM 4


For use with laptop computers:
The SST CompactFlash GPS can be used with laptop computers with an open PC Card slot. The use of a Type II CompactFlash to PC Card adapter (not included with the purchase) is required. When prompted, use the following drivers:

lpgps2k.inf

For laptops running Windows 95 / NT/ 98 use:
lpgps9x.inf

Tap the GPS icon. Choose a serial port from the list and tap "OK" at the top of the screen.
